From day one, the Trump administration enacted a scapegoating and disinformation strategy to demonize immigrants and execute millions of deportations and detentions. In response to this increase in brutality from immigration agents and promise of more to come, Here to Stay was created as a response to Trump’s attacks. Under my creative leadership, Here to Stay became the rallying cry of immigrants and those willing to fight alongside them.
The brand has now become emblematic of the immigrant rights movement, appearing on tv shows, movies, banners and murals all over the world. Through this brand, I successfully led a team of creatives to develop new media and new strategies for the defense of immigrant people.
Content such as our Know Your Rights and Know Your Power series went viral online by elegantly and succinctly providing immigrants with realistic tactics for defense and protection. The success of this new toolkit for immigrant survival was depended on the creation of culturally relevant content based on the analysis of ICE & CBP detention and deportation patterns by immigrants with a shared undocumented experience.
